Shift Happens NZ
I am preparing for a staff meeting next week, and as part of that I have updated the Shift Happens presentation with some NZ statistics. It's essentially the same but with some key data changed...

It means much more for us with the NZ statistics included. I still don't like the us/them mentality at the beginning of this presentation tho. It makes it seem like China is out to get us.
Yes - it does have that slightly hysterical feel to it "the reds are invading!" Still, a useful video to get the basic idea across and very useful for clusters. Have included this in a link list I send out to my clusters.
I have shown this video recently to groups of pre-service teachers and found myself saying apologetically, "This video is from the US" and cringing inside as the Chinese and Indian slides come up with the inference of threat... it is great to have some NZ stats included. When I watch it, I always feel challenged to produce a video from a NZ context. Perhaps after Milestones when it isn't so busy...
